Taoist Yoga Integration
Therapeutic and Preventive Solutions for Stress and Enhancing Wellness
Taoist yoga, in the ancient Sundo tradition from Korea, is a subtle but powerful ancient therapeutic healing art designed to free the body and mind of pain, anxiety, and burdensome memories that block the flow of ki (life force energy), preventing overall well being. It is rooted in ancient mountain and forest versions of Buddhist and Taoist practices that combine body movement, breath work, and guided meditation for holistic integration. The programs naturally work with the meridian system of the body, the 5 elements, and the 5 main organ systems well known in Chinese healing practices.
Ron's training in the martial arts began in the 1970s as a teenager through Kung Fu. It progressed further through a study of the "internal martial arts" through Taoist yoga. He was guided by several Korean masters and eventually became a certified instructor in 2001. After that, he also spent time in retreats in Korean monasteries for further training. He still considers his training in these Taoist healing arts as some of the most significant training he has received in this life and continues to be a practitioner. Ron knows that one cannot really teach what one does not practice. In our busy world, we frequently experience conditions such as poor digestion, headaches, stress, anxiety, insomnia, and more. These conditions are so common that they can seem normal for life on Earth in the 21st century. The human nervous systems adapts to stress and takes on more and more until some type of breakdown happens either mentally, emotionally, or physically. The only way to reverse the process of nervous system overload that causes imbalance in the body and mind is to begin a conscious practice that resets the nervous system and brings body, mind, emotions, and spirit back into alignment. These ancient Taoist practices are masterful at restoring this balance. What is included in these practices? For beginners, gentle physical postures, breath work, meditation, and moving the ki with intention that supports the meridian system are the first steps. In workshops and retreats offered by Ron, participants will receive lectures based on Taoist theory that will clearly help students understand the science behind the practices and help them to expand their awareness about who they really are beyond the body and personality. These practices can be carried into students' lives with amazing results if practiced regularly. As students become intermediate practitioners, Ron introduces more advanced practices that accelerate the ki accumulation in the body through posture and breath work, ki gong, and meditation. The following is included:
How does this practice aid in our balancing and awakening process? These practices begin with the foundation of one's ki energy. In the early beginnings of the practice, the emphasis is on building the level of ki. As this happens, participants find that the increased level of ki facilitates a release of emotional blockages that are mirrored in the body's meridian systems. This is a sign that the process is working. As the blockages begin to be released, the participant notices that emotions stabilize and states of anxiety and stress decrease. It becomes a cycle -- the more ki one generates, the clearer the person becomes. Eventually, as emotional and physical blockages are released, the students experiences new and higher levels of consciousness that are uncovered because of the releases. This is when profound transformation begins accelerating even more. With repeated practice and sincere commitment to self-healing, participants can experience a process of inner awakening that brings more joy, love, and fulfillment into their lives. Who can participate? In every workshop, Ron takes into account the needs of the group and thus every age and fitness level can participate because the workshop is not focused only on physical activity. This workshop can be a powerful tool for all those seeking balance in their life and who want to receive tools that can be used every day to restore balance, well being, health and happiness.
